Sciath na scol celebrations at Scoil phádraig naofa
Both Boys and Girls Teams have been fantastic this year. The Boys reached the historic final and our Girls team have won all their games only to lose narrowly in a very competitive semi-final. They were all brilliant. They have all worn our new school jersey with pride. It was great to see our school jersey taking the field in Pairc Ui Rinn for the Boys final for the first time.
The Boys’ final took place on Thurs. Nov. 19th @ 12 noon in Pairc Ui Rinn. An tUasal MacGearailt and all the teachers in the GAA Committee this year, Iníon Ní Chrualaoí, Iníon Nic Énrí, Iníon Ní Chárthaigh, Iníon Ní Fhearghail, An tUasal O’Dáibhí were further supported by Eddie Murphy and Keith Hanley from Douglas GAA and numerous supportive parents and we thank them all.
The Girls’ Team characterised their steely determination, team spirit and positive mental attitude by playing each match with gusto and enjoying the fun of playing as a team. Anna Geary, Former Cork GAA Senior Footballer and Cork Rose who visited our School last year truly inspired the team. They witnessed first hand the important part that each of their team mates brought to the team on any given day. Their hard work and determination paid off by reaching the Sciath na Scol Semi-Final against Coachford, who had the better luck on the day, but who showed great team spirit and respect to our Scoil Phádraig Naofa Girls’ Team. Our team put up a valiant fight right to the bitter end.
The Boys’ Team blazed to glory and qualified for the Sciath na Scol Final Their sheer diligence, bravery, commitment to training and strength of character would even put Eoin Cadogan, Senior Cork Footballer to shame, as they went from strength to strength and are now looking forward with pride to the Sciath na Scol final which is the ultimate GAA player’s dream!!
